That’s all the math you need to know. After Harvard shocked the college basketball world by beating 3-seed New Mexico 68-62 last night, no one thought the West Region could get any more screwed up. And then Friday afternoon happened.

Ole Miss became the third 12-seed in 2013 to win its opening game, knocking off trendy pick Wisconsin in the process. (Side note: When was the last time TWO Power Six conference tournament winners got 12-seeds in the Big Dance? My guess is never.)

And just when you thought the Western portion of your bracket had seen enough red lines and eraser marks, Jerell Wright decided to finish the job. Wright, Ramon Galloway and the La Salle Explorers beat the 4-seed Kansas State Wildcats, 63-61. In doing so, La Salle did the basketball equivalent of urinating on the remainder of 98% of America’s brackets.

At this rate, Gonzaga is going to be playing the Hickory High Huskers in the Elite Eight. And based on current results in the West Region, we can only assume that Gene Hackman will be leading Hickory into Atlanta for the Final Four.

(You’d have known instantly about all these upsets if you followed us on Twitter: @SidelineMOB…)

This is the first time in the history of the NCAA Tournament that the 3, 4, and 5-seeds in one region have all lost in the Round of 64. So, to New Mexico, Kansas State, and Wisconsin, we at SidelineMOB would like to extend our personal gratitude for F***ING UP OUR BRACKETS TO THE POINT OF NON-RECOGNITION, AND VIRTUALLY GUARANTEEING WE WILL LOSE OUR COLLECTIVE BRACKET POOLS TO THAT CHICK IN THE CORNER OF OUR OFFICE THAT CHOSE HER TEAMS BASED ON “PRETTY COLORS AND ANY MASCOT THAT’S A KITTY CAT“.

But, you know, we’re not mad about it.
