The first truly huge weekend of FBS college football is over, and the eight ranked teams to play each other last Saturday are either reaping the rewards of victory or left licking their wounds. For the Georgia Bulldogs, Oklahoma Sooners, Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes, victory is sweet. For the LSU Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ole Miss Rebels and Wisconsin Badgers, there are certainly some pieces to pick up.

Yes, the Oregon Ducks are still #1 in our SidelineMOB FBS Top 25 rankings heading into Week 6, but the margin has narrowed thanks to Alabama’s dominating 25-0 performance against a very talented Ole Miss squad. (The Rebels stayed inside our top 25 – barely). Zach Mettenberger and LSU were highly impressive in defeat (at least on offense), and slipped just slightly in our polls. Notre Dame and Wisconsin weren’t so lucky.

With the Irish and Badgers leaving our top 25 (as well as Georgia Tech), it’s time to say hello to some new faces. We couldn’t help but put the Florida Gators back in our top 25 after winning against SEC rival Kentucky without the services of Jeff Driskel at quarterback. We also welcome a few mid-major teams, the undefeated Fresno State Bulldogs and Northern Illinois Huskies – both of whom could be players in the final BCS chase if they can remain undefeated.

As we head into Week 6, there are 3 more games featuring head-to-head matchups of AP Top 25 opponents: #4 Ohio State visits #16 Northwestern (upset alert?), #25 Maryland travels to #8 Florida State, and the red-hot #15 Washington Huskies get a true test at #5 Stanford. All that, plus Arizona State visits Notre Dame and Georgia Tech takes on the Miami Hurricanes – what a week!
